For fiscal year 2008 (FY 08),the Department of Defense (DOD) budget request is 481.4 billion,an 11.3 percent increase over the projected enacted level for FY 07.Real growth is 8.6 percent: 164.7 billion for operations and maintenance (O&M),116.3 billion for military personnel,101.7 billion for procurement,75.1 billion for research and development (R&D),18.2 billion for military construction,2.9 billion for family housing and 2.5 billion for working capital.
