Holographic recording offers marine scientists an alternative to conventional imaging for analysis of oceano-graphic systems.For example,conventional methods of sampling plankton are not well suited to observing precise spatial relationships or preserving delicate organisms.Holography,on the other hand,permits non-intrusive,non-destructive analysis of organisms in their natural environment while retaining their relative spatial distribution.Holography is the only way to record true,full-field,high-resolution,3D optical images.
