摘要

"Soft" ionization methods,such as electrospray ionization (ESI) and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI),have revolutionized the field of mass spectrometry (MS) by enabling the transfer of intact macromolecules from solution to the gas phase.Continuing advances and refinements of ion sources coupled with various mass analyzers have translated to an ability to investigate ever more complex biological systems including high-mass species and macromolecular assemblies.
