prEN 10314 provides a simple method for the determination of minimum elevated temperature yield strength values of steels on the -2s-confidence level. The method is applicable even if only a limited number of test data is available. Two data groups of steel grade X10CrMoVNb9-1 are presented in this paper to demonstrate the reliability of the method. In the present case, when the data meet the requirements concerning minimum coverage and maximum admissible residual scatter, the accuracy of the minimum values, checked by means of a simplified regression analysis, is estimated to be in the range between ±2 % of the associated minimum value of room temperature yield strength. Taking into account the uncertainty of the ratio values, deviations of that magnitude are considered acceptable.
