摘要

The U.S. pecan crop appears to be about 170 million pounds (Table 1), the shortest crop since 1998.Pecan industry forecasts made from June through September of 2013 estimated the U.S. crop at an average of 213.6 million pounds. Nowthat harvest is nearing completion in the Southeast, and is underway in the West, it is obvious that we won't make that many pecans. The old industry adage "a short crop gets shorter" is readily apparent especially in the Southeast. Most southeastern commercial growers are telling me that their cropis coming in about two thirds of what they expected, and that is the case in my own orchards.
