摘要

The experiment was conducted to determine the effect of different levels of feed restrictions (at 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% less than the normal feed intake) on the compensatory growth of broilers during their second week of age. One hundred eighty male Arbor Acre broiler chicks were randomly distributed based on a completely randomized design (CRD) to five treatments with six replications. Full body weight recovery was observed in the 3~(rd) week of age for birds at 20% less than the normal feed intake. Feed restriction improved feed efficiency of broilers even at 50% less than normal feed intake. Feed restriction and refeeding period extension did not affect dressing percentage and abdominal fat content of the birds. Mortality was considered negligible during the experimenL Income over feed and chick cost (IOFCC) analysis showed that feed restriction at 20% less than normal feed intake was most profitable-Hence, based on the condition under which this study was conducted, feed restriction at 20% less than normal feed intake is recommended. Further studies could be conducted on the effect of feed restriction on the dressing percentage and abdominal fat content of the birds. This area could be further cxpiored by improving the mcthodology and increasing levels of feed restriction beyond 50% less than the normal feed intake.
