The fourth annual report by the Voluntary Initiative(VI)Steering Group,composed of UK farming associations,has concluded that"real progress"has been made since the 2003-2004 growing season to"raise standards and behavior in pesticide use"in the UK.The report cited the achievement of land management pesticide reduction targets aimed at reducing seepage of the chemicals into the water supply and an increased number of farmers participating in biodiversity education programs as the main reasons behind the successful results.
