Beijing-The China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Assn. (CPCIA), warning of the possibility of a "blind expansion," has called on the Chinese petrochemical sector to increase its efforts to modernize, the official Xinhua News Agency reported. Citing below capacity operating rates for ethylene, polyvinyl chloride, methanol and other products, CPCIA Vice Secretary Feng Shiliang said the industry will feel a sharp pinch from declining exports and increasing imports.
