Mangalore-Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL) has awarded Jacobs Engineering a contract for a portion of the third phase expansion of MRPL's refining complex in Mangalore, India. MRPL, a subsidiary of India's Oil and Natural Gas Corp. (ONGC), is increasing its refining capacity to 15-million t/y from 9.69-million t/y to provide feedstock for an aromatics complex being built at Mangalore by ONGC Mangalore Petrochemicals Ltd. (PCN, 13 Oct 08, p 3). The aromatics project, originally scheduled for completion in 2010, but now due on stream in 2011, includes the production of 900,000 t/y of par-axylene and 275,000 t/y of benzene.
