In situ observation of growth process of (Nd1/3Eu1/3Gd1/3)Ba2Cu3Ox films prepared by MOD method

摘要

We have investigated the crystallization process of (Nd1/3Eu1/3Gd1/3)Ba2Cu3Ox (NEG123) from NEG123 amorphous film prepared by metalorganic deposition (MOD). NEG123 film was deposited on MgO(100) using metal (Nd, Eu, Gd, Ba, Cu) naphthenates. The film was preheated for 1 h at 450 degrees C in air prior to in situ observation using a high-temperature optical microscope. The in situ observation of growth aspects has been made up to 900 degrees C in N-2 atmosphere. It was found that (1) irregular, granular, needle and platelet crystals are formed, (2) a large number of irregular crystals appear at around 890 degrees C, (3) NEG123 platelet crystals with well-defined faces are formed in the irregular crystals, and (4) many needle crystals are grown from granular crystals of Ba rich at a growth rate of about 7.5 mu m/s.
