摘要

The proteins degraded during bacterial spore germination are a group of SASPs which are synthesized only during sporulation under transcriptional control. There are at least nine different SASPs in B. megaterium spores at various levels, and some of these (SASPs A and C) are very similar in amino acid sequence. The SASPs are the products of an extended multigene family, of which seven distinct genes coding for proteins similar to SASPs A and C have been cloned from B. megaterium. B. cereus and B. subtilis also contain similar multigene SASP families, of which six have been cloned. Analysis of a number of these genes has shown (i) that they are expressed in parallel during sporulation, (ii) that they are nonocistronic and ont tightly clustered on the chromosome, (iii) that over half of the residues in all the SASPs coded for by these genes are conserved, and (iv) that all have similar promoter sequences.
