Various parts of the stomach smooth muscle membrane showed the similar passive properties with those observed in the intestine. Spontaneous discharges of spike appeared on a slow depolarization (slow wave). Tetrodotoxine and atropine decreased the amplitude of slow wave and then ceased the spike generation. On the other hand, MnCl2 blocked the spike generation first and then lowered the amplitude of the slow wave. The slow wave was reduced in amplitude by treatment with tetrodotoxine and atropine and enhanced by prostigmine. Chronaxie for the spike generation was 26 msec, condition velocity was 1.2 cm/sec and the time constant of the foot of the propagated spike was 28 msec. (Author)
