Asib, M.Pd.,udThesis, Surakarta, English Department, Graduate School, Sebelas Maret UniversityudSurakarta, 2010. udThe main objectives of the research are to know whether: (1) internetudmaterials are more effective than textbook ones in teaching writing for the fourthudsemester students of the English Department of Teacher Training and EducationudFaculty, Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto; (2) the fourth semester studentsudhaving high level of creativity have better writing competence than those havingudlevel of creativity; and (3) there is an interaction effect between teaching materials udand creativity in teaching writing for the fourth semester students for teaching udwriting. udThe experimental method was employed in this research. The population of udthe research was the fourth semester students of the English Department, Faculty ofudTeacher Training and Education, Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto in theudAcademic Year of 2009/2010. The sampling technique used was Cluster Sampling.udThe sample in the research was 48 students covering 24 students of Aud as theudexperimental class and 24 students of Aud as the control class. The researchudinstruments consist of an adapted Munandar’s Verbal Creativity Test and writing testudabout argumentative essay which was designed by the researcher. Before theudinstruments were used, a try-out was done to know the validity and reliability of theudinstrument. After treatment was given in eight meetings, the researcher conducted audpost-test to get the research data. Having got research data, the researcher analyzedudthe data in terms of their frequency distribution, normality of the sample distribution,udand data homogeneity. Then, researcher used ANOVA test (multifactor analysis ofudvariance) and TUKEY test to test the research hypotheses. udcommit to user ud1ud udReferring to the summary of multifactor analysis of variance, it can beudconcluded that: (1) Teaching writing using internet materials to the fourth semesterudstudents is more effective than the one using textbook; (2) The writing achievementudof the students having high creativity level is better than the one of those having lowudcreativity level; and (3) There is an interaction between teaching materials and leveludof creativity. udBased on the research findings, it can be concluded that the use of internetudmaterials is effective for teaching writing for the fourth semester students of theudEnglish Department.
