PURPOSE: A biodegradable thermal-sensitive star-shaped block copolymer and a drug delivery system for injection containing the copolymer are provided, wherein the copolymer shows the sol/gel phase transition in an aqueous solution according to temperature and can form gel at a lower temperature compared with a linear block copolymer. CONSTITUTION: The star-shaped block copolymer comprises a hydrophobic block comprising a noncrystalline polyester and a hydrophilic block comprising poly(ethylene oxide). Preferably the hydrophobic block is at least one selected from the group consisting of noncrystalline poly(d,l-lactide), poly(d,l-lactide-co-glycolide), poly(d,l-lactide-co--caprolactone), ply(l-lactide-co-glycolide), poly(l-lactide-co--caprolactone), poly( -caprolactone-co-glycolide), poly(-caprolactone-co-glycolide-co-d,l-lactide) and poly( -caprolactone-co-glycolide-co-l-lactide). Preferably the hydrophobic block has an average molecular weight of 500-25,000 and the hydrophilic block has an average molecular weight of about 500-25,000.
