Orimulsion is a bitumen-based fuel that consists of a fine oil-in-water emulsion stabilized by a surfactant. As one element of spill response planning for the transportation of the product, a field manual has been prepared that presents operational guidelines regarding marine shoreline protection and treatment activities. The guide addresses a number of issues related to protection and cleanup of Orimulsion on marine shorelines which are appropriate for response decision making.
