Delivery Technology of Growth Factorsto Realize Tissue Regeneration Therapy

Advanced surgical therapies currently available consist of reconstruction surgeryand organ transplantation. Although there is no doubt that these surgicaltherapies have saved and improved countless lives, they have several therapeuticand methodological limitations. Conventional biomedical devices cannotcompletely substitute the biological functions even for a single tissue or organ,and consequently cannot prevent the progressive deterioration of tissue andorgan injured or damaged. The shortage of donor tissues or organs is a big issuefor transplantation therapy. Additionally, the continuous and permanent use ofimmunosuppressive agents to prevent immunological rejection responses oftencauses side-effects, such as the high possibility of bacterial infection,carcinogenesis, and virus infection. To improve this clinical situation, a newtherapeutic trial, in which disease healing can be achieved based on the naturalhealing potential of patients, has been explored.
