Coordination frameworks are extended polymeric systems that display many unique properties,which have been extensively studied over the past three decades.Despite these developments,the coordination chemistry of these compounds has been mostly limited to oxygen-andnitrogen-based coordinating groups.As an alternative,isocyanide functional group can formcoordination bonds through the carbon atom with a number of transition metals and stabilizetheir low oxidation states.As a result,these materials could facilitate a greater degree ofelectronic delocalization and exhibit unusual electronic properties.The resultant frameworkscould be promising in a variety of applications,such as porous conductors and molecularswitches.1 To this date,there have only been a handful of reports detailing the incorporation ofthese groups into extended coordination structures,2 therefore leaving a considerable room forexploration.
