摘要

This study examines the possible relationships and influences of parental authority prototypes (parenting styles) and gender with the degrees of concern towards children's exposure to media violence. Parents were given two surveys that measured parenting style category and the level of their concern towards their children witnessing media violence. It was determined with this sample that parenting styles had no statistical relationship with the level of concern towards their children's exposure to media violence. Conversely, it was found that gender did have a significant influence on concern levels. (Females had a greater concern than males.) Findings may be helpful and useful within our communities about such issues as children's exposure to media and domestic violence, parental styles, and parental skill building and support.
