摘要

The main focus of this study is to evaluate the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency's (ACOA) community economic development strategies by examining its relationship with the Community Business Development Corporations (CBDC) and Regional Economic Development Organizations (REDO). To understand and evaluate the federal government's approach to community economic development questionnaires were sent to CBDCs and REDOs.;The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency has a distinct view on community economic development. It mainly supports the business community either directly or, indirectly through CBDCs and REDOs.;In general, the federal agency adequately supports the Community Business Development Corporations and Regional Economic Development Organizations financially but, more consistency in the variables for the funding criteria is needed. The federal agency often communicates with the two local agents but there is a sense of frustration among the respondents. The relationship could be strengthened if ACOA incorporates more input from local agents when creating its CED programs.
