摘要

When metal matrix composites are cooled down to room temperature from the fabrication or quench temperature, residual stresses are introduced in them. The residual stresses will affect deformation, fracture and dimensional stability of the composites.In this experiment SiCw/Al composites were heated to different temperatures and kept for the same time and water-quenched. Then, the width of X-ray diffraction peak and corresponding plane spacing were measured and calculated in order to study the thermal residual strain in the composites.
