The Obama Administration has announced a goal to cut emissions of methane from the oil and gas sector by 40-45% by 2025 compared with the levels in 2012. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas (GHG) with a global warming potential 25 times that of carbon dioxide (CO,). Reducing methane emissions would result in capturing valuable fuel that would otherwise be wasted, the White House says.
