This paper briefly discusses one of the resolutions during the recently concluded Fourth International Insect Science Congress held in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, between 14 and 17 February 2013, i.e. to declare some of the unique bee trees in a few villlages near Bangalore as world heritage sites in order to protect these insect pollinators. It is suggested that a world heritage status would facilitate agricultural stability, enhance fruit and vegetable production, agri-tourism and livelihood security.
