摘要

Ahands-on course lets veterinarians and veterinary students travel to South Africa's Eastern Province to work with William Fowlds, resident veterinarian at the Amakhala game reserve. "Vets Go Wild" is in its seventh year, offering 16-day course modules that accommodate up to 15 students each. The five offered courses count toward students' extramural study (EMS) requirements. This year students from the United States will also join participants from Australia, the United Kingdom and France in the Vets Go Wild program. Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences recently sent students for their first course this year. The parks that Vets Go Wild participants work with run intensive and carefully orchestrated monitoring and game introduction programs that give students a hands-on conservation experience.
