Evaluation and Molecular Characterization of Single spore Isolates of Agaricus bisporus for Higher Yield

Twelve single spores isolates of Agaricus bisporus viz; VD1, VD3, VD4, VD5, VD8, VD10, VD11, VD12, VD13, VD14, VD15 and VD18 were developed and compared for their yield performance and other morphological characteristics of fruit bodies with parent strain, S11 (control). Isolate YD 18 recorded highest average yield of 18.06 kg per 100kg compost, followed by VD5 (16.76 kg) and VD10 (16.54 kg), with an increase of 24.70,15.79 and 14.19 per cent over control, respectively. The data is based on the average yield of three crops. The fruit body of isolate VD18 was also found to possess most desirable characteristics. RAPD studies revealed that the primer OPA-10 yielded two unique bands OPA-10_(1200) and OPA-10_(2100).
