Bioprotein is microbial biomass protein which beside protein contains carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals. Bioprotein is produced by rapid growth of microorganisms in suitable medium. In the present study, Pleurotus sajor-caju, Pleurotus ostreatus, Saccharomyces UHF 9 mdAzotobacter chroococcumn were grown on agricultural residue viz. maize cobs and wheat straw for SCP. The consortium of selected strains were grown under submerged fermentation. The biomass so produced was harvested, dried (50 °C) and its nutritional contents were evaluated. The bioproteins so formed showed 28.38 % of crude protein, 4.54 % of nitrogen, 5 % of carbohydrates, 2 % of nucleic acid, 3.32 % of lipids and approximately 40 % of fibers on dry weight basis. The bioprotein sample so produced was rich in all the important nutrients. When compare to important items of food chain like pulses, mushroom fruiting bodies, vegetables and meat etc. this preparation is either at par or more in value. The sample can be used as a supplement to enrich the feed of animals while, its use as food supplement is possible after further refinement and purification.
