In Almen'a growing is done 'out of the sun'. After the hot summer months, growers in this region of southern Spain plant as early as possible, so that as winter arrives they have a vigorous, productive crop. They also want to work using a minimum of hired labour. This became apparent on a visit to growers in Almenia.
