Using ultraviolet light to kill bacteria and mold in ventilation systems can prevent work-related illnesses in office buildings,a study published in The Lancet found.Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation resulted in a 20 pecent overall reduction in symptoms,a 40 percent reduction in respiratory symptoms,and a 30 percent reduction in mucosal symptoms.
