National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) came into existence in July 1982. It is established for providing credit for the promotion of agriculture, small scale industries, handicrafts and other allied economic activities in ruralareas with a view to promoting integrated rural development and securing prosperity of rural areas. NABARD provides refinance assistance for a broad spectrum of investment and production oriented activities in the rural sector sprawled over Minor Irrigation, Animal Husbandry, Farm Mechanization, Forestry, Fisheries, Land Development, Dry Land Farming, Plantation and Horticulture, Non-farm activities. Rural based industries, Market Yards and Storage Godowns.
