College courses help prepare students for careers in their chosen fields, and as such, serve as suppliers to the businesses that hire the graduates of these colleges. Lower division college courses are also suppliers for upper division courses. Knowledge and skills of incoming students vary considerably and institutions of higher education have less control over incoming quality. One method of approaching this problem is to address quality issues early in a program, with an intent of strengthening the quality levels of all students. This paper describes this approach by RIT's College of Business to improve consistency in student quality. (9 refs.)
