摘要

As a result of writing this column, I've become painfully aware that there's no accurate term for the people who come through the library's doors without the incentive of a paycheck. I shuffle through the list of options: patron, customer, visitor, or client (to name a few). All of these terms describe some aspect of people's relationship to the library and its staff, but none quite hits the mark. I'm left with the nagging feeling that if I come up with the right word for these people(and I don't mean unflattering adjectives.) I would be able to serve them better.
