摘要

PERSONNEL RECRUITING and retention is essential to the global contract drilling industry. Today's workforce is stretched thin, and personnel are at a premium for rigs both on- and offshore. As the industry braces, for the delivery of more than 100 new offshore rigs and several hundred land units, its dilemma is who will work them. The lack of skilled workers could bottleneck deployment of new drilling units. The solution envisioned by IADC chairman Robert L Long, Transocean Inc, is to broaden the industry's employment base beyond traditional labor sources.
