摘要

I wish to comment on the recent article published in the BJOG on the limitations of ST analysis in clinical practice. All three cases described in the article had a poor neonatal outcome despite the labours being monitored with ST waveform analyser (STAN). The authors suggest that this fact highlights the limitations of intrapartum monitoring with STAN. However, closer scrutiny of the cases clearly show that the reason for the poor outcomes is not the STAN technology itself but the fact that STAN guidelines were repeatedly breached in all the three cases.
