Strongly acidic and strongly alkaline electrolyzed water (SAcEW, SA1EW) are readily prepared from water containing NaCl by direct current electrolysis. SAcEW has a strong bactericidal activity due to the available chlorine (AC) concentration. We developed a device for measuring electrical conductivity in SAcEW instead of real measurement of AC concentration. The electrical conductivity in SAcEW was significantly correlated with the AC concentration. This approach is machineless and reagentless for measuring, thereby permitting simple real time analysis. The electrical conductivity is useful for measuring AC concentration in SAcEW at home care.
